Coverage and Press Engagement for the Honolulu Defense Forum 2027

The Honolulu Defense Forum (HDF) convenes senior leaders from government, military, industry, and allied partners to advance practical solutions for Indo-Pacific security. Media participation is limited to ensure candid dialogue while providing select opportunities for coverage of key discussions and speakers.

HDF27 will feature a mix of:

  • On-the-record sessions
  • Sessions held under the Chatham House Rule
  • Off-the-record sessions

Session formats and applicable media rules will be clearly communicated in advance of the event. Pacific Forum reserves the right to update session formats or media access rules as needed, with notice provided to accredited media.

Media Access & Accreditation

Media participation is by invitation only. Accreditation is limited and subject to approval. 
Priority is given to:

  • Established national and international outlets
  • Defense, security, and policy-focused media

Media Opportunities

Most sessions are held under the Chatham House Rule (content may be used, but not attributed). Select sessions will be on the record and open for media coverage. Media will be informed in advance which sessions are attributable.

Filming & Photography Policy

Photography and video recording may be restricted. Approval is required for any filming.

  • No filming, recording, or photography is permitted during off-the-record sessions unless explicitly authorized
  • Chatham House Rule sessions may not be attributed to specific speakers
  • Media must comply with all session-specific rules regarding attribution and content use
